Claudia Apfelbaum, LCSW

I know the transformative value of a therapeutic relationship. Having seen how important it is to be able to explore one’s inner workings, I feel passionate about my work as therapist.

My personal experience in therapy  has helped me to become strong and confident - which did not come easily for me. It has helped me overcome my doubts and anxiety to make courageous choices. I want the same for you!

I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College and graduated from the Council for Relationships Family Therapy Training program. I have twenty years of experience as a therapist working with individuals, couples, and groups. My training is in Gestalt Therapy, Sand-tray Therapy, Dreamwork and receive Psychoanalytic Supervision.

Before being in private practice, I worked as a therapist and case manager with children and families in social service agencies in Philadelphia and in volunteer management. I supported a storytelling initiative for older women, taught parenting skills to teen moms, worked with high-risk families and coordinated the student volunteer program of the University of Pennsylvania.

I am a first-generation American, a daughter of Holocaust survivors and a mom of one daughter, who is also in the field of the healing arts.

I have a relational approach to my work, believing that connection is the foundation for a healthy life. It is my honor to support you as you walk this healing path.
